The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for severe lightning for several districts, effective until 11.30 pm today.
Accordingly, thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely to occur at several places in the Northern and North-central provinces and Trincomalee, Batticaloa and Matale districts.
The Met Department warned that there may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.
The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
