National Award-winning Marathi director Sameer Vidwans tied the nuptial knot with his long-time lover and assistant director Juilee Sonalkar on June 29, 2024. Sameer had shared pictures from the wedding ceremony on Instagram. Both the bride and groom looked charming in the Marathi wedding apparel. The photos show Sameer and Juilee happily posing for the cameras while lovingly looking at each other in the other pictures. In the last photograph, Sameer holds Juilee’s mehendi-smeared hand.
Sameer’s post comment section was filled with congratulatory messages from his fellow co-stars and fans. Kiara Advani, who acted in Sameer’s film Satyaprem Ki Katha, commented,” Congratulations.” Marathi actresses Spruha Joshi, Pooja Sawant, Sonalee Kulkarni and others also wished Sameer and Juilee.
Marathi entertainment portal Rajshri Marathi unveiled a clip of Sameer and Juilee exchanging garlands at the wedding. The video shows the bride and groom’s families holding an antarpat (a white cover) between them. It is traditionally used as a way for families to introduce themselves to each other formally. The song Ranga Maliyela compliments well with the occasion.
The Satyaprem Ki Katha director and assistant director got engaged in February. In the viral post, Sameer donned a sherwani while his wife, Juilee, draped herself in a cream saree complemented with a backless blouse.
Even though the engagement ceremony happened among the director’s close friends, the comments section of the post saw the participation of many Marathi and Bollywood actors. Kartik Aaryan, who acted in Sameer’s film Satyaprem Ki Katha and Kiara congratulated the couple on their wedding. Both actors also wished them luck in their married lives. The director thanked the actors for their wishes.
Sameer and Juilee have been working together for several years. She worked as an assistant director in the movies directed by Sameer. Their creative journey started when they first teamed up together on the critically acclaimed 2017 film Mala Kahich Problem Nahi. She also served as an important member of his team for the National Award-winning film Anandi Gopal in 2019. Sameer made his directorial debut with the Marathi film, Time Please. He dominated headlines as a director after his film Anandi Gopal won the National Award. It stars Bhagyashree Milind and Lalit Prabhakar in the lead roles.
