Kevin Bacon Reveals How He Prepared For The Role In Ti West’s Latest Slasher Film MaXXXine

American actor Kevin Bacon, known for films like Footloose, The Following and more, has been grabbing a lot of limelight for his latest work. The actor is being praised for his role in director Ti West’s latest slasher horror film, MaXXXine. It is reportedly the final film in the trilogy. In the film, Bacon plays a private detective named John Labat while his co-star Mia Goth returns to her role as Maxine Minx. The actor recently opened up about how he had prepared himself for his role in the film. He shared that he had worked with the film’s director on ideas for his character, noting that he likes taking ‘big swings.’ Bacon added that Ti West had given him the liberty to develop his character.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, The Sleepers actor spilt some beans regarding his collaboration with West. He said West had asked him to “go as far as possible,” with his character of John Babat, assuring him that if they went too far with the ‘look, dialect, or performance,’ he would help tone it down.

“Ti West is the type of person and director who is confident enough to be comfortable collaborating, so we started banging around some ideas,” Bacon said while reflecting on the process and how he prepared.

The director, in an interview with the British Film Institute, had discussed the casting process of Kevin Bacon in MaXXXine. West said that he had been an admirer of Bacon’s acting for a long time and the actor too had been a fan of his film. West added that before working together, the duo had never met.

West, also known for The Pearl, further said Bacon had responded “right away, and we got on the phone and really hit it off,” as soon as he had sent the script of the film to the actor.

“Bacon was interested in taking on a role that was different from what he typically did, something a little more outside the box which allowed him to push his acting abilities further. He was excited about the opportunity because he had never played a private eye,” added West.

MaXXXine was released in the theatres on July 3. The film revolves around Maxine Minx(Mia Goth), a budding actress and adult film star in 1980s Hollywood, who finally gets her big break. However, she has a disturbing past and something threatens to reveal it to the world.
