Kelly Valentine Henry, the show’s casting director, recently disclosed that her inbox is inundated with explicit audition tapes. During her appearance on the Should I Delete That podcast, Henry revealed that since the show’s debut, she has received numerous X-rated videos from hopefuls.
As a result, she regularly clears her inbox, which is 90 per cent full of fan videos and unwanted content. At the moment, the majority are focused on landing the role of Sophie Beckett, who will be romantically involved with Benedict Bridgerton, played by Luke Thompson, in season 4.
Henry said, “It’s every day. I get the most unbelievable videos, unsolicited. It’s s*x basically. It’s not actual s*x but it’s quite punchy, the stuff that comes through to me. It’s not nude pictures, but not far off. It’s a bit sad, really.”
The casting director further mentioned that her inbox is filled with emails from fans eager to join Bridgerton. Although the plot for Season 4 hasn’t been revealed yet, many are already submitting audition tapes for roles, including Sophie Beckett. Kelly Valentine Henry shared that one fan even sent her a video dressed in a period costume so elaborate that it stood out from afar. Despite the fans’ enthusiasm, the casting director finds this phenomenon a bit puzzling and difficult to comprehend.
Fans speculated that the romance between Sophie Beckett and Benedict Bridgerton might be a major focus in the next season after Collider reported that Netflix is casting a new key role. The makers are looking for an actress to play Emily. The character is described as a plucky and resourceful East Asian woman, aged between 24 and 30, who struggles with trust issues and the role includes sexual scenes. This has led fans to speculate that Emily might be a new love interest for one of the Bridgerton siblings.
Showrunner Jess Brownell had earlier announced that fans will need to wait at least two years for Season 4 of Bridgerton. He further suggested that the new season will go on floors very soon. The previous season was focused on Colin and Penelope Bridgerton, played by Luke Newton and Nicola Coughlan, which was loved by die-hard fans of the Netflix series.
