Bollywood is known for its blockbuster films. It is also known for giving us some of the most iconic on-screen pairs. One such pair who ruled audience’s hearts in the 70s and 80s is none other than Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor. They were seen together in many films and were loved by people because of their on-screen chemistry. Their friendship turned into love and they eventually got married. Neetu Kapoor left the industry after getting married at the age of 21, when her acting career was at a peak stage. Her last film before her big break was Ganga Meri Maa, which was released in 1983.
In a talk show with Karan Johar, Neetu Kapoor spoke about quitting films after marriage. She revealed that she started acting when she was five years old. Her film Do Kaliyan made her popular and was well-liked by people. Fame came at a very early stage in her life. She did around 70 to 80 movies in her life from age 5 to 21 years. She even claimed that when her kids were born, she wanted to dedicate herself to her children and look after her family. Rishi Kapoor was very possessive, according to her, and wanted her all the time around him. She was genuinely happy in her household and her father-in-law Raj Kapoor was a wonderful person. Her best years were when she stayed in Chembur at Deonar cottage, she said in that interview.
Neetu Kapoor’s mother left no stone unturned in making her daughter an actress, as she herself wanted to become one, but things didn’t go according to her own way. She thus introduced an 8-year-old Neetu Kapoor in the film world after a lot of hurdles.
Neetu Kapoor started her career as a child artist at the age of 8. During that period, she started working in films like Dus Lakh, Do Dooni Chaar and Do Kaliyan. Every film she worked in was a hit. Her song Bachche Mann Ke Sachhe also became quite popular.
After growing up, Neetu worked with Randhir Kapoor in the film Rikshawala, which was a flop. Even though her movie got flopped, she never gave up and while working, she made her own place in the industry. Slowly, Neetu earned a lot of names in B-town with her films.
During the time of Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor’s marriage, Neetu’s career was at its peak and as per the tradition of the Kapoor family, she had to say goodbye to the world of acting.
Despite all the love and commitment, reportedly, there were frequent fights between Rishi and Neetu Kapoor. Ranbir Kapoor, their son while growing up had witnessed the rough patch between his parents. After so many years, Neetu Kapoor has returned to her work again. Not only this, his son Ranbir Kapoor and daughter-in-law Alia Bhatt are big stars of the industry today.
