Get ready to watch what went on behind the chaos between Scooter Braun and Taylor Swift after she cut ties with him when he took control of all her music.
Fans are well aware of what went down between Taylor Swift and music producer Scooter Braun, leading to years of legal disputes, public statements and even the re-recording of Swift’s previous albums. Exploring the controversial dispute, Warner Bros. Discovery has picked up on it to add another installment to its popular ‘vs’ series. After the success of the earlier parts, the new season titled Taylor Swift vs Scooter Braun: Bad Blood will premiere on Thursday, July 4, on Discovery+ for viewers in India. Coinciding with US Independence Day, it will be a two-part docu-series produced by Optomen.
“The $300 million Taylor Swift vs. Scooter Braun feud: A battle of music, power, and control! Watch “Taylor Swift vs Scooter Braun: Bad Blood,” premiering on July 4th, only on Discovery+,” the Instagram post read.
Abiding by the ‘vs’ format, the two parts will focus on both sides of the argument. While the first part will have views from Swift’s side about why she wasn’t consulted before the deal and takeover of her own albums, the second part will discuss Braun’s allegations against the Fortnight singer. Legal experts, journalists and those close to both sides will present their arguments.
Speaking on the same, Charlotte Reid, VP Commissioning, Networks & Streaming at WBD UK & Ireland, said, “Taylor Swift’s dispute with Scooter Braun over the ownership of her music exploded into the mainstream, taking contract law from the boardroom to social media and into the public interest. It’s a high-profile, high-interest story that opened debate on fandom and dominated headlines, one which will resonate with our viewers who are highly engaged with access-led documentaries like Vs, which continues to be a popular format on Discovery+.”
Notably, the Discovery+ show comes along the lines of success from previous installments including Johnny vs Amber, Kim vs Kanye: The Divorce, and Vardy vs Rooney: The Wagatha Trial.
What Happened Between Taylor Swift and Scooter Braun?
The drama initially came to light in June 2019 when Scooter Braun’s company, Ithaca Holdings, acquired Big Machine Label Group for $300 million, becoming the legal owner of Taylor Swift’s first six albums. Despite Taylor’s efforts to regain the rights to her music, she was unsuccessful. In response, she launched a campaign in August 2019 to re-record all of those albums, encouraging her fans to stream the new versions instead.
Since then, she has released new versions of her albums, Fearless, Red, Speak Now, and 1989.
