The doctor claimed Samantha’s treatment could be harmful for health.
Ricky Kej pointed out that Samantha also endorses unhealthy, sugary food and processed food for pets.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu recently received backlash for recommending hydrogen peroxide nebulisation on her Instagram story. Dr Cyriac Abby Philips aka The Liver Doc called her out on X for supporting “unscientific” treatments as someone who is not a medical professional. Soon after, Samantha issued a statement on social media. While several celebs supported the actress in the comments, Ricky Kej sided with The Liver Doc.
Ricky wrote in the comments section of Samantha’s post, “Get well soon! You have gone through a lot, and deserve to be well. About medical advice, it would be best not shared by non-medical professionals especially celebs with influence, More-so since you also endorse processed foods for pets, and sugary unhealthy foods. While we understand that this is done for the money, It is natural that there will be suspicion about everything that you praise.”
“And when you speak in favor of treatments that could be life-threatening, this is treading into very very dangerous territory.. especially treatments that have not gone through clinical trials and peer-reviewed systems, etc. So the Doctor who attacked you (I cannot see his comments) may have been rude, but he was not completely wrong. One cannot play with people’s lives with advice, which is half-baked. Especially people with huge influence. It is not the responsibility of the said Doctor to get in touch with yours. He will rightly respond to you, since you are the one advocating the treatment,” he added.
For the unversed, earlier this week, Samantha took to her Instagram stories when she recommended the use of hydrogen peroxide nebulisation. Her post caught The Liver Doc’s attention who then called her “health and science illiterate” and mentioned that the use of hydrogen peroxide nebulisation “is dangerous for health”. The doctor even demanded that Samantha should be jailed and added, “In a rational and scientifically progressive society, this woman will be charged with endangering public health and fined or put behind bars. She needs help or a better advisor in her team.”
However, earlier today, Samantha reacted to the doctor’s criticism and and mentioned that she “merely suggested” the use of hydrogen peroxide nebulisation with “good intention” since it was suggested to her by a “highly qualified doctor”.
