Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency releasing in September
In May, the makers of the film issued a statement and revealed that the political drama will not hit theatres on June 14, 2024.
Kangana Ranaut will be next seen in Emergency and today the makers have finally announced the release date. The film will be released on September 6. Earlier, it was announced that the film release had been postponed due to ongoing Lok Sabha elections. Along with the announcement, a new poster has also been unveiled.
Taking to her Instagram handle, Kangana shared the poster and wrote, “The Beginning of the 50th Year of Independent India’s Darkest Chapter, Announcing #KanganaRanaut’s #Emergency In Cinemas on 6th September 2024. The Explosive Saga of The Most Controversial Episode of The History of Indian Democracy, #EmergencyOn6Sept in cinemas worldwide.” As soon as the announcement was made, fans were seen reacting to it. Many wrote, “Can’t wait.”

The decision to postpone the film has been taken since the actress is currently busy with the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, which she is contesting from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. “Our hearts are filled with love pouring in for our queen Kangana Ranaut. As she prioritises her duty to the nation and her commitment to serve the country, the release date of our much-awaited film ‘Emergency’ has been postponed. We promise to update you soon with a new release date. Thank you for your continued support,” the statement by team Emergency read.
Kangana Ranaut announced Emergency in 2021 and later clarified that even though Emergency is a political drama, it is not Indira Gandhi’s biopic. The actress is not just playing the lead in the film but is also directing it. Besides Kangana, the film also stars Anupam Kher, Milind Soman, Mahima Chaudhry and Shreyas Talpade among others.
Previously, Kangana talked about the movie while speaking to the news agency PTI and said, “Emergency is my most ambitious project and second directorial post-Manikarnika, we have the best of Indian and international talent come together for this big budget, grand period drama.”
The actress also talked about directing the film in another interview when she told ANI, “Emergency is one of the most significant and darkest chapters in our history that young India needs to know. It is a crucial story and I want to thank my super-talented actors like late Satish ji, Anupam ji, Shreyas, Mahima, and Milind for embarking on this creative journey together. I am excited to bring this extraordinary episode from India’s history to the big screen. Jaihind!”
