Anushka Sharma shared a special post after team India won the T20 World Cup 2024 and Virat Kohli announced his retirement from international T20 cricket format. The Bollywood actress took to her Instagram account and shared a solo photo of Kolhi holding the T20 WC trophy. Anushka showered him with love and asked him to have some ‘sparkling water’ after the win and retirement announcement.
“I love this man ❤️ @virat.kohli . So grateful to call you my home ❤️ – now go have a glass of sparkling water for me to celebrate this ! ,” Anushka wrote. The post got much love from many, including Priyanka Chopra. She commented, “.” A fan added, “Love him more than words can ever express!” Another fan wrote, “We all love this man.”
For the unversed, Virat had scored the highest runs in the game for India. He made 76 runs of 59 balls, helping India put up a score of 176 runs. India beat SA by seven runs. Shortly after the game came to an end, Virat announced his retirement from the T20 international format. “This was my last T20 World Cup, this is exactly what we wanted to achieve,” he said. “One day you feel like you can’t get a run and this happens, God is great. (It is) just the occasion, now or never kind of situation. This was my last T20 game playing for India. We wanted to lift that cup,” he said.
“Yes I have, this was an open secret (retirement). Not something that I wasn’t going to announce even if we had lost. Time for the next generation to take the T20 game forward,” Kohli added.
Apart from sharing a post for Virat, Anushka also gave team India a loud shoutout. Addressing the various photos and videos showing Virat, Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya crying, Anushka said, “Our daughter’s biggest concern was if all the players had someone to hug them after she saw them cry on tv….. Yes, My darling, they were hugged by 1.5 billion people ❤️ What a phenomenal victory and what a legendary achievement!! CHAMPIONS – CONGRATULATIONS!!”
