A 41-year-old woman was arrested at Bandaranaike International Airport early today for attempting to smuggle cocaine into Sri Lanka.
The suspect, who arrived from Ghana on a Qatar Airways flight at around 1:50 a.m., was traveling on a South African passport.
Officials from the Narcotics Control Unit discovered approximately 4,068 grams of cocaine in her possession.
Customs Deputy Director General and Media Spokesperson Sivaly Arukgoda said the seized narcotics are valued at Rs. 142 million.
