The issue started when the crew of the contractor was tasked with demolishing the set by burning it.

Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil is a recently released Malayalam comedy film that stars Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead role. It was reported that most of the film was shot on a set created in Eloor, Kochi, Kerala. The set of the film was created in the area of Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Limited (FACT). Months after the film was released, the set was demolished and set on fire. Things turned upside down when the smoke coming from the fire kept on increasing, leaving the residents of Eloor gasping and coughing due to the fire. It has been found that people who live near the area have been severely affected due to the smoke coming out of the fire.

The issue started when the crew of the contractor was tasked with demolishing the set by burning it. This created a problem, causing several children in the area to suffer from smoke inhalation and suffocation. This happened due to several garbage heaps containing materials like plastic, fibre, and wood that were burned. When the locals learned about the fire coming out of the heaps, they immediately contacted the Eloor fire department. The locals have revealed that they warned the film’s crew against burning the garbage.

Municipal authorities have announced that legal action will be taken against the crew and the makers of the film. Due to heavy smoke coming from the site, the nearby St Anne’s School was closed on Wednesday. Even the residents of the monastery adjacent to the school were engulfed in heavy smoke.

Efforts by a single unit proved insufficient to fully extinguish the flames across multiple spots. As a result, fire forces from nearby areas of Aluva, Thrikkakara, Paravur, Gandhinagar, and other locations were also called in to control the fire. Finally, after a lot of effort, the fire and the smoke were controlled.

Talking about Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil, the film received a good response upon its release in theatres. Apart from Prithviraj Sukumaran, the film also stars Basil Joseph, Nikhila Vimal, Anaswara Raja, and Yogi Babu in important roles. The film was directed by Vipin Das.
