Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan and several other actors has stepped forward to defend Samantha Prabhu, after she was criticized by a doctor who labeled her as health illiterate. Earlier this morning, Samantha took to her Instagram stories when she recommended the use of hydrogen peroxide nebulisation. Her post caught The Liver Doc’s attention who then called her “health and science illiterate” and mentioned that the use of hydrogen peroxide nebulisation “is dangerous for health”.
The doctor even demanded that Samantha should be jailed and added, “In a rational and scientifically progressive society, this woman will be charged with endangering public health and fined or put behind bars. She needs help or a better advisor in her team.” However, earlier today, Samantha reacted to the doctor’s criticism and mentioned that she “merely suggested” the use of hydrogen peroxide nebulisation with “good intention” since it was suggested to her by a “highly qualified doctor”.
Varun who would be seen sharing screen space with Samantha, took to the comments section dropped a heart emoji. Rhea Chakraborty on the other hand wrote, ‘Potatoes gonna potate,’ in the comments section. Other celebs like Kiara Advani, Tahira Kashyap, Rakul Preet Singh, and Manushi Chhillar liked her post.
Hours after Samantha’s post went viral, Dr Cyriac Abby Philips aka The Liver Doc once again lashed out at Samantha Ruth Prabhu for allegedly playing “victim”. The doctor, who previously slammed the actress for recommending hydrogen peroxide nebulisation, has now called her a ‘serial offender’. He called Samantha’s claims about the use of hydrogen peroxide nebulisation “unscientific, pseudoscientific and baseless”.
“Please note, she is a serial offender in the context of healthcare misinformation and she has been in the line of fire previously too. The reason why doctors like me have to spend (waste) time from our busy schedules to fight misinformation online is because it is peddled by large influential “celebrity” accounts that have no regard for public health. Engagement and monetization is their concern,” he wrote.
