Emraan Hashmi reacted to Kangana Ranaut’s views on awards.

Emraan and Kangana have worked together in films such as Gangster, Raaz, Ungli, and Once Upon a Time in Mumbai.

Emraan Hashmi seemingly took a dig at Kangana Ranaut for saying that winning film awards is worthless. Emraan said that Kangana might have made that statement after she stopped winning. However, Emraan also spoke about how awards work on a “barter” system rather than on merit. He also said that he has a special bond with Kangana after working with her multiple times.

When Shubhankar Mishra said that Kangana Ranaut received several awards for Gangster (also starring Emraan) but later called them worthless, Emraan said, “Kyunki milna band hogaye uske baad? I remember winning once, but I soon understood the ‘game’ behind this. It’s essentially a barter deal; you make an appearance and dance…”

Emraan continued, “I wouldn’t want to diss awards, but if someone wants to decorate their living room by dancing, all power to them. But I can’t pat myself on the back and say that I’ve delivered a good performance because it’s a lie. You should win if you’ve done well. What’s the point of winning if it’s going to be a barter deal?” “The value of these awards shows has been diluted over the years,” he said and added that this is why he has stopped attending award shows but might have won a few if he showed up.

Commenting on his dynamic with Kangana, Emraan said, “Fantastic, cordial, wonderful. I’m very fond of her, she’s very fond of me. Unfortunately, we haven’t met in a while. We last worked together in 2015 on a Dharma film. We haven’t met since then, but I’m very fond of her. We’ve done a lot of films together, so our tuning is special.” Emraan and Kangana have worked together in films such as Gangster, Raaz, Ungli, and Once Upon a Time in Mumbai.

On the work front, the Tiger 3 actor is awaiting the release of the second part of his Disney+ Hotstar series, Showtime, on July 12. Talking about the ‘positive feedback’ he received for the first part, Emraan told News18 Showsha, “What people reacted to was that it was a breezy, entertaining and fun take on our industry. We sprinkled a lot of truths about it in a very interesting way. I would want to give credit to the writers for that. It captured the idiosyncrasies of producers and stars in an industry where relationships are fickle, transient and fleeting and where there’s no permanence of success and failure and stocks go up and down.” Besides Showtime, Emraan will also be seen in two Telugu films, OG and G2.
