Akshay Kumar’s Sarfira to release on July 12
Akshay Kumar recalled in a recent interview that he imagined his father’s death during emotional scenes in Sarfira.
In discussing his latest movie ‘Sarfira,’ a remake of the Tamil biopic ‘Soorarai Pottru,’ actor Akshay Kumar opened up about his deeply personal approach to acting. He disclosed that he channeled the grief of losing his own father to authentically depict a heart-wrenching scene where his character endures the same loss. Akshay highlighted that he avoided using glycerin, relying instead on genuine emotions to bring the scene to life. He further reflected on the somber atmosphere on set during these moments and mentioned a specific request he made to director Sudha Kongara to help him navigate the emotionally charged scenes more smoothly.
In a conversation with Baradwaj Rangan on Galatta Plus, Akshay Kumar delved into the challenges of his latest film ‘Sarfira.’ When asked about the most difficult aspect to master, he shared, “There are many things in the film which I could relate to. This character lost his father, the trauma he went through… When that scene was happening, to be honest, I went into that kind of trauma, when I lost my father. I don’t use glycerin to cry, I use my own emotions to cry. When you see the film, I’m really crying.”
Akshay continued, “There were times when Sudha would say ‘cut’, and my head was still down, because I was still crying, because it isn’t easy to come out of that emotion. I’ve gone far away. I know in the back of my mind that she’s called cut, but it’s very difficult to bring it back (to reality). I used to request her to take longer shots, because then, I’m staying with the same emotion.”
Akshay Kumar revealed a significant challenge he faced while filming ‘Sarfira’: maintaining the same emotional intensity when a scene was cut and re-shot from different angles. To address this, he requested director Sudha Kongara to utilize multiple cameras simultaneously to capture the scene in one go. Akshay appreciated Sudha’s willingness to accommodate his request but noted that it took about a week for them to fully adapt to each other’s working styles.
Akshay Kumar is gearing up for his next release Sarfira co-starring Radhikka Madan. The film screening was held recently and many stars were seen attending it. Atrangi Re director Aanand L Rai was also present and today he reviewed it. He called the film a gem and praised Akshay Kumar’s performance.
The hype around Sarfira is quite strong. The film’s trailer was the most watched one on YouTube in 24 hours. On IMDB too Sarfira emerged as the most anticipated film of the month. Sarfira is based on the true real-life story of GR Gopinath who made cost-effective aviation possible for the common man. The film directed by Sudha Kongara is the official adaptation of the 5 national award-winning film Soorarai Pottru.

The inspiring film also cemented its status as the most anticipated film on IMDb, with users rating it as the most looked-forward-to movie of July 2024.
