Kalki 2898 AD Director Nag Ashwin Says VFX Team ‘Worked Tirelessly’ To Ensure ‘Perfect’ Climax

Kalki 2898 AD has become the latest blockbuster and is garnering immense success at the box office. The film is also receiving widespread acclaim for its stunning visual effects (VFX). In a recent interview, director Nag Ashwin also talked about the VFX team and thanked them for “working tirelessly” to ensure a “perfect” climax of the Prabhas starrer.

“With Kalki 2898 AD now in theatres, I’m thrilled to share my immense appreciation for the visual effects work delivered by Prime Focus, DNEG and ReDefine teams. Their creativity and technical expertise were instrumental in crafting the film’s climax, which audiences are raving about. They worked tirelessly, iterating the shots till the very end, never turning down a request to perfect each scene. A huge thank you to the VFX and 3D teams for making this a truly immersive experience for viewers,” the director said.

Nag Ashwin was also joined by the producers Priyanka Dutt and Swapna Dutt, who also added, “We didn’t want everything to be green screen thus we built almost 30 per cent of the set, something like the Shambala fight with bot and all, it’s insane. It has been a great journey with Niraj Sanghai (Business Head of Prime Focus Group), who has been extremely helpful on the project. We have had great supervisors, and what Prime Focus Group, DNEG and everybody did for us is just phenomenal.”

Released on June 27, Kalki 2898 AD is packed with heavy VFX work, featuring numerous vehicles, assets, and digital double armies, which are crafted by Prime Focus Group. The film stars Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Kamal Haasan in key roles. Several big actors and filmmakers including Vijay Deverakonda, Dulquer Salmaan, Mrunal Thakur, Ram Gopal Varma and SS Rajamouli also made special appearances in the movie. Kalki 2898 AD has crossed Rs 400 crore mark at the box office.

News18 Showsha rated the film 4/5 and was all praise for Amitabh Bachchan and Prabhas’ performances in the film. “Kalki is an out-and-out Amitabh film. Even though we see very little of him in the first half, the actor’s screen time increases in the second half. The intensity with which he delivers his dialogues is worth praising. Prabhas’ Bhairava and Bujji add an element of humour to Kalki 2898 AD. Even though Prabhas’ action sequences in the first half lack energy, he stuns all with his fierce avatar in the second half of the film. His face-off with Amitabh surely deserves a special mention and is one of the major highlights of the film,” a part of our review read.
