In an interview with Mirchi Plus, Rohit Roy had once confessed about his downfall in the entertainment industry despite a massive headstart. The actor, who hails from Ahmedabad shared that he was “painfully arrogant”. He revealed, “I am not from Mumbai, I am from Ahmedabad, which was a small town. Growing up, all I did was study. I was a good student.” He added that he ventured into acting and saw that his first show Swabhimaan become a huge hit and was an overnight success. He regrets not working hard. He said, “If I would have worked hard for this, then I would have respected the process.”
Rohit Roy opened up about how he believes he had no role to play in the success of the show and it was something he “got by chance”. He further added that he was not a trained actor. Hence, the show’s fame and success got into his head. He said, “I started feeling that whatever I touch would become gold.” He explained that his arrogance turned to impatience and he wished he could have kept his “unfiltered behaviour” in check because people looked up to him as a star and such behaviour was not acceptable from a star. He regrets not having handled the situation better and called himself “young and brash”.
The Kaabil actor did not stop there. He further looked back at his mistakes and the constructive criticism he received at that time by calling them “missed valuable growth opportunities”. He said that his wife, Manasi Joshi gave him valuable feedback about his acting. According to him, she shared, “You don’t know acting. You just copy Amitabh Bachchan.” He retorted that she did not know how to act and that the whole country was celebrating him. He accepts that had he paid heed to what his wife said, his journey of learning and acting would have been much quicker.
