Kalki 2898 AD Sequel: Deepika Padukone To Be REPLACED In Nag Ashwin Film? Shocking Claims Surface

After the blockbuster success of Kalki 2898 AD, all eyes are on Nag Ashwin and the sequel of his film. For those who have watched the film would be aware that Kalki 2898 AD ends on a cliffhanger note. The cliffhanger has a pregnant Deepika Padukone in the epicentre of it and hinted she will play a crucial part. However, a new report has now claimed that Deepika might be replaced in the sequel.

An unverified report by Bollywood Hungama claimed Deepika was originally supposed to be a part of the second part of Kalki 2898 AD. A source had previously told the publication that director Nag Ashwin was ready to wait for Deepika to compelte her maternity leave. However, with the success of Kalki 2898 AD and demands

“The sequel was planned anyhow, no matter what the fate of Kalki. Now that it has proven to be a money spinner beyond anything, the producers expected, the sequel is being expedited,” an insider told the publication. “But now with the clamour for the sequel growing with the mounting success of the first film, the producers may decide to replace Deepika in the sequel,” the source added. News18 couldn’t verify these claims at the time of publishing.

Speaking with Variety, Nag Ashwin revealed the team has already shot about 25 to 30 days and there is more in the making. ““We shot about 25 or 30 days, but there’s a lot of action still left. It’s almost like a whole new production that’s going to start,” he said.

“Every loose end or thread that we left hanging has to be wrapped up. Obviously, the most important thing will be the face-off between these three, which will be between Yaskin who can now wield the Gandiva, which is thought to be the most powerful weapon, versus Karna and Ashwatthama, who are the most fearsome warriors,” he added.

Kalki 2898 AD has emerged as one of the biggest blockbusters this year. The film has so far earned Rs 536.75 Cr in India.
