Ishq Vishk Rebound star Kusha Kapila talks about the Samay Raina roast that went viral recently.
Kusha Kapila opened up about Samay Raina taking nasty potshots at her and her divorce from Zorawar Singh Ahluwalia in a recent roast. For the unversed, Samay and Kusha joined several other comedians to roast each other on the new series, Pretty Good Roast Show S1. In one of the episodes, Samay took the centre stage and roasted Kusha. He made several comments about the Thank You For Coming star’s marriage, divorce and even sex life, a few which were censored by the show.
Although Kusha took the roast as a sport, the actress opened up about the episode. During an AMA session on Instagram and admitted she has restricted phrases including ‘Samay Raina’, ‘Aashish Solanki’ and ‘dark humour’. She added that she is yet to fully process the divorce and she will open up about some day, if she thinks it is right.
“Not my first time on the rodeo. In the large scheme of things, nothing matters. Probably when I have processed all of it, will speak about it on a level-headed podcast (lol do we have any) or maybe never. We will see. This profile continues to be a safe space for my female and queer followers,” Kusha said.
Kusha and Zorawar tied the knot in 2017 and announced their separation in 2023. They issued a joint statement and revealed that “we gave it our all, until we couldn’t anymore.” The former couple had also mentioned that a ‘relationship ending is heartbreaking’ and therefore they need time for healing.
Later that year, Kusha revealed she was ‘bullied’ into announcing her divorce. “I was honestly bullied into sharing my personal news. This is the first time I’m sharing that. I was 100% bullied into sharing it. But I’m glad I shared it on my own terms. I did not want anyone else sharing information about my life with the world, without consulting with me first. You have to put on blinders,” she said, speaking at the India Today Conclave last year.
