Darshan is on trial in the Renukaswamy murder case.
The Karavali team has now clarified that the rumours of dropping Darshan are untrue as he had not been approached in the first place.
Prajwal Devaraj is involved in several intriguing film projects, including the upcoming Karavali. This film appears to be a gripping action movie set in Tulunadu, revolving around the sport of Kambala, which gained attention through Rishab Shetty’s Kantara.
The first promo of Karavali, released in December last year, provided a glimpse into the captivating world of the film and revealed Prajwal Devaraj’s distinctive appearance. Gurudatha Ganiga is the writer, director, and producer of the film, which marks Prajwal’s 40th role as an actor.
There has been considerable speculation regarding a cameo for the role of Mahaveera, an integral character in the film who appears for just a few minutes. It was widely reported that Darshan was to play the cameo and that he has now been dropped given the actor being on trial in the Renukaswamy murder case. However, the film team has now clarified that the rumours of dropping Darshan are untrue as he had not been approached in the first place.
The crew of Karavali acknowledged the benefits of having a big star like Darshan playing a cameo in the film but in an official statement, refuted the claims of dropping the actor. “We have not yet finalised any actor for the special role of Mahaveer and we will announce the name soon”, the official statement said. Now, reports are suggesting that Kiccha Sudeep or Shiva Rajkumar may be approached for the role but there has been no official statement as of yet.
Regarding the storyline of Karavali, the first-look poster, featuring the tagline ‘Animal vs Human,’ hints at intense action scenes. Recent reports indicate that the film will creatively explore Tulunadu or the Dakshina Kannada culture, showcasing unique visuals, costumes, language, and various distinctive elements. This project marks Gurudatha Ganiga’s second directorial venture after his 2018 film Ambi Ning Vayassaytho. Initially, he was set to direct Prajwal Devaraj in the action thriller Mafia but Lohith H. later took over that role.
